Forms 1 – 3

The programme offered to students is mainly academic. In the first three years students offer on the following subjects:

  • Agriculture Science
  • History
  • English Language
  • English Literature
  • Geography
  • Home Economics Management
  • Integrated Science
  • Mathematics
  • Music
  • Pastoral Care
  • Physical Education
  • Social Studies
  • Spanish
  • Technical drawing
  • Visual Arts

Forms 4 and 5

At the end of the third year students are promoted to a ‘specialised stream’. They are given the opportunity to choose from Business (B), Arts (A), Pure Science (S), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Even though the programme is heavily academic, an approach to the extra curricular is maintained by regular assembly whereby students are offered the opportunity to develop any talent, for example, in drama; clubs, the prominent one being School’s Bible Club.

Examinations

  • Every student at Mackenzie High School is required to write at least two examinations a year in each subject offered.
  • Students of Forms V and VI (Upper) must write a Preliminary C. X. C. /G. C. E. Examination.
  • Students who deliberately absent themselves from the examination will be penalized.
  • If a student is ill for an examination he/she may require to present a medical certificate on his/her return to school. Parents are asked to get in touch with the school if the child is too ill to write an examination.

Homework

Careful and regular preparation of homework/assignments is an integral part of a pupil’s schooling. Parents are requested to ensure that this is done.
